The Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District (NENEDD) and the Northeast Economic Development, Inc. (NED, Inc) Board of Directors met in Columbus on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 for their monthly board meeting.  Prior to the meeting, everyone was given a tour of the new City of Columbus Community Building located at 2500 14th Street in Columbus, NE.  The three-level facility houses the new City Hall offices, the Columbus Public Library, the Columbus Arts Council, the new City Council Chambers, community spaces, the Columbus Area Children’s Museum, The Downtown Mug coffee shop and more.

Picture4At the November 29, 2023, Northeast Economic Development, Inc. (NED, Inc.) meeting, a Direct Homebuyer Assistance loan was approved in the amount of $29,000.  Mandy Gear, Housing Loan Specialist, states, “Congratulations to our newest homebuyer and partners on your well-deserved success! Safe, affordable housing continues to be incorporated into our organization’s scope of work as a top priority in the region we serve, and direct homebuyer assistance offers an innovative product to serve low-to-moderate income households that is a benefit to the financial lenders and realtors, as well as the buyers. It is truly our pleasure be a part of this process.”

During the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District (NENEDD) board meeting, Jeff Christensen, Business Loan Specialist, presented four business loans that were approved totaling $490,000.  Picture5

Shannon Hekrdle has planned an expansion of her business, A Full Plate, LLC.  This is a take and bake kitchen that provides convenient and delicious meals ranging from casseroles, salads, soups, desserts and healthy entrees in a variety of sizes.  Shannon’s new location will be in the former Uptown Brewery Restaurant at 801 10th Street in Stanton, NE.

Michael Tabbert and Brian Ferris are planning the purchase of the L Bar B Steakhouse located at 211 Iowa Street in Clearwater.  Michael and Brian have had a long-time dream and desire to honor their families, serve their community and fill the need for an upscale yet casual restaurant.  The name, Two Bills, pays homage to the owners’ fathers, Bill Ferris, a 20-year Air Force vet, and Bill Tabbert, a lifetime educator and coach in Nebraska. Two Bills will provide a variety of food options and will also offer catering and branded logo retail items.

Lisa Montgomery is planning the expansion of her MedSpa business, TLCCR Esthetics, LLC, in Plainview.  She has been operating since July 2023 at the Pure Revival Salon at 104 S. Main Street in Plainview.  Lisa feels her key to success is repeat business and will continually strive to service her clients by being proactive in her marketing efforts and by staying current with popular industry trends.

Hans Houfek started HNH Auto Repair and Tire, LLC, in 2022 and currently operates out of a shop located at 1202 Dakota Street in Emerson.  He does all major and minor repairs on personal vehicles, sells all brands of tires, custom wheels and truck accessories.  HNH is the only auto shop in Emerson and has a customer base within about 30 miles of Emerson.
